Chiropractic has been with us forever. Some call it "bone setting" others call it manipuation and then in the late 1800's someone used the greek word "Chiro" to describe manipulation of a persons bone and joint. The word "Chiropractic" was born and simply means "To practice by hand". Many people associate the word "Chiropractic" with popping or cracking a joint. It does not mean that. Chiropractors employ manual methods to help your body repair and heal more quickly and effectively instead of using drugs and other medications. Manual methods include stretching and strengthening, various types of sports specific massage like myofascial release, sports taping, muscle and joint adjustments and other manual procedures. This is where Chiropractors like Dr. Runco differ from their medical counterparts. In traditional medicine it is common for a doctor to simply prescibe medications like antiinflammatories and pain killers in an attempt to placate the patient. Little regard is usually given to the history of the injury, orthopedic or neurological examination or biomechanical assesment. Instead drugs are prescibed to mask the patients symptoms often allowing them to furthur injure themselves. Drugs like antiinflammatories are not "healing drugs". In fact they are like any other drug and can result in adverse reactions. Just because a drug is prescribed does not make it good for you. In fact I am positive that your injury was not the result of NOT TAKING ANTIINFLAMMATORIES OR PAIN MEDICATION! Your tendonitis or fasciitis or rotator cuff tear did not happen due to an aspirin deficiency.
"In 1999 the New England Jouranl reported that roughly 16,500 DEATHS among arthritis sufferers could be directly attibuted to over the counter medications like excessive Aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen and other NSAIDS (Non Steroidal Antiinflammatory Drugs)." These drugs are not healthy nor or they good for you. You did not develop arthritis because you had an aspirin defeciency. Your body must detoxify these drugs just like any other drug.
