Foot and Hand Adjustments

Cold_Laser_Therapy.jpgMany foot and hand conditions respond  well to adjustments.  Most people do not realize that feet, hands, wrists, elbows and shoulders can be adjusted.  They associate a chiropractic adjustment with the neck and lower back.  While it is true that most Chiropractors mainly treat the spine Dr. Runco also specializes in the treatment of sports injuries.  Part of the treatment of a sports injury may be manipulation.  You have 24 bones or vertabrae in your spine.  There are 26 bones in each of your feet and ankle.  The reason you have so many bones in your spine is so that you can move freely in multiple directions.  When your back is "stuck" a chiropractor may make an adjustment to free up the joints resulting in more motion and less pain.  You foot has 26 bones so it too may move freely.  Dr. Runco specializes in adjusting feet and hands, removing pain and restoring motion.

There are essentailly 3 different foot types.  High arch, medium arch and low arch.  Along with these foot types are associated types of function.  For example; people with low arches are told they have flat feet.  That is a description of how thier foot looks.  People with low arches are also usually told that they overpronate.  Overpronation means too much pronation or movement of the foot and is a description of how their foot moves.  People with high arches are typically underpronators which means their foot is rigid and does not move enough.  Dr. Runco specializes in restoring normal range of motion in the feet.  By adjusting a persons foot and restoring function many long term foot related conditions may be avoided.

Hand and wrist conditions can also respond well to adjustments if the problem is related to lack of or decreased range of motion.  When combined with muscular therapy to the muscles of the forearm, wrists and hands adjustments of the hand and wrist can have a profound effect.

"I am a yoga instructor and when my wrist starting hurting I did the thing that seemed obvious....I tried stretching.  Too bad that hurt more than anything.  My doctor took a X-ray and said nothing was wrong but sent me to phyical therapy anyway.  The physical therapist said my wrist was weak and I needed to strengthen it.  Seriously?  I am a yoga instructor.  I really did not think I had "weak wrists".  Plus why wouldn't my other wrist be weak too?  Needless to say PT did not work.  I came to see you and you explained I had a subluxated lunate bone in my wrist.  You popped my wrist and taped it.  I could not believe that by the next day it was pretty much back to normal and my "weak wrist" was magically strong again.  Thanks Doc, you're the best!"
